Medieval Leather Canteen Pattern
Make your own traditional leather canteen, inspired by the costrels and drinking vessels of the medieval period.
This is one of my older canteen designs, with a broad rounded body, narrow neck and leather attachment points for adding a strap or carrying cord. It's a great project for medieval kits, reenactment, LARP, SCA use, or just anyone who wants to make something a little different from the usual leatherworking projects.
The finished canteen measures approximately 9" tall × 14" wide, with an assembled thickness of roughly 3–4".
It's a fun build and a great way to add a handmade, functional-looking piece to a medieval or fantasy kit.
